Raichur Ashram Seer Arrested for Abusing Child Over Missing Pen

He reportedly found the pen with one of the students and then beat the boy with a belt and stick, bit his hand, and locked him in a dark room as punishment. When she visited the ashram, she found her son injured and took him to a private hospital, later filing a police complaint.

According to Raichur West Police Inspector B Chandrappa, the seer has been charged under IPC Section 109 (abetment) and sections of the Juvenile Justice Act. The case was filed on Saturday, and the seer has been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.

The Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR) is concerned about the safety of children in such places. The police have temporarily closed the ashram and moved its remaining residents to a safer location.
